    • I sincerely appreciate your thoughts! I completely agree, there are so many talented folks out there – just barely able to scrape by – yet so many of the ‘stars’ are have only mediocre talent. It seems to be the case regardless of field/industry 😦 This artist really seemed to enjoy what he does (and really good at it) and I hope he can continue to do it for a long time.

  2. Takami, this is another wonderful dive into the world of black-and-white for you! But I really have to comment on the first photo in the series: I love the age range of the people in the crowd and the fact that they all have their own expression of intrigue on their faces. It shows this performer appeals to all ages but also really shows the ability of art and performance to crosse the age boundaries of modern society.

    • Thank you Earl 🙂
The first photo was actually my favourite too, and precisely because of the same reasons you stated. It’s reassuring to know that other folks (especially a professional photographer) feel the same way. Thanks so much for making my evening! 😀

    • Thank you (as always!) for your kind feedback 🙂
This artist was also very good. I’m thrilled to know if I can show some of the ‘essence’ of his performance through my photos 🙂

  3. Those are some serious move this man has, and one commentator said about capturing the face of amazement and joy of the kids in the background, I should add that look at the faces of the “old” people, they too are having a great time. Probably brought the inner child out, was fun to see people having fun watching this performer.

    • I’m so glad you pointed out the reaction of the ‘older’ audience members, because that’s my favourite feature of the first photo! 🙂 😀

As you observed, the performer was very good, but what I loved was how he could enthrall the crowd and put genuine smiles on people’s faces. Not easy to do in Tokyo 😉 I plan to post a different performer on Wednesday, so please stay tuned! As always, thank you for your comments.

  4. Wonderful shots Takami, really like the capture of emotions of the children in the first photo…these are the great simple things live performances can give. Beautiful 🙂

    • Thank you Randall! The children’s faces said it all: the performance gave everyone a moment of happiness and excitement. You expressed it so nicely, yes, live performances can give such great things. If the photos can convey even a little bit of that feeling, then I’m happy 😀 I plan to post another ‘street performer’ mini-gallery later this week (Wed) so if interested, please stay tuned! 🙂 😉

      GENさんの素晴らしいパフォーマンスを国籍・言葉や年齢に関係なく、みんなで楽しみ盛り上がりました。上野公園で定期的にパフォーマンスをしているようですのでまた見に行きたいと思います☆

  5. Hello Takami! What a wonderful series! I quite enjoy a good street performer and you really captured the essence of a good show. The crowd shot is wonderful–I love all the smiles and all the joy! And the performer looks very talented (and very strong) too. And it is perfect as a monochromatic series. Very nice work! Wishing you a very happy day! :))

    • Hello Jeannie :))
As always, I appreciate your feedback. It was my first time attempting any semblance of ‘street photography’ so I was a little anxious as to how things would turn out. Fortunately, the performer was wonderful and he really drew in a big crowd with his show. I also thought he was very good – not only skill-wise, but in making you feel comfortable to watch the performance. The audience consisted of all ages, backgrounds and even nationalities. Everyone had a memorable time! I learned that he performs at this park (Ueno Park) pretty regularly, so I plan to print out some photos and give them to him on my next visit.
      Warm wishes from rainy Tokyo!

    • Thank you Hervé. I am happy you enjoyed this ‘street performance.’ There are many interesting and exciting performers at the public parks. Everyone can enjoy them 🙂 I wish you a good day too, and of course your beautiful country.

    • Many thanks, Curt! I had deliberated in which order to post the 3 photos, but decided to show the audience’s reaction first. And then, you can see what they’re reacting too – which was a very enjoyable performance 🙂
      Best wishes,
      Takami

    • Thank you! 🙂 I was thinking deeply on which ‘order’ I should put these 3 photos. Usually, the reactions of the audience are shown last, but – the expressions on their faces was so wonderful, I couldn’t help but post it on the top 😉 😀

    • I’m glad you liked the photos 🙂
This performance took place at Ueno Park in Tokyo. There are a number of street performances there, and they are all great! This particular performer – his stage name is Gen – I really enjoyed, because he was so good at engaging the audience, and everyone – young & old – had a great time.

    • Hello Jeff,
Many thanks for your ‘like’ and feedback!
I also loved the the crowd shot, the expressions on everyone’s face were priceless and we all had a grand time 🙂
      Warm wishes,
      Takami
