    • Hello Ken-san,
I’m so happy you enjoyed the hydrangeas! To answer your question, I did indeed plan for the right time to shoot these photos. It was right at the start of rainy season, which guaranteed steady rains, and fortunately was not so hot. The weather forecast predicted a brief stop to the rainfall, and that’s when I made a quick dash outside! 😀

      Best wishes,
      Takami

    • Hello Susan,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m always delighted if folks can enjoy some of my photography. I am also learning too, and look forward to ‘following’ your photography and gardening adventures 🙂

      Best wishes,
      Takami

    • I’m very happy you enjoyed this series 🙂 I will admit, I get tired of the constant rain during the ‘rainy season’ – but, the flowers do become so beautiful. And I realise how important it is to receive the proper rainfall 🙂

  1. Takami-san, your macro work is just outstanding. The perfect color rendering, light, detail and texture are phenomenal.

    • Hello Tiny,
Thanks a lot for stopping by! I’m glad you liked these bright and vibrant flowers. I agree, they look so fresh and delicate after the rain. I hope you’re having a great weekend. Regards to the Osprey Family too 🙂

      • The Osprey family has gotten a lot smaller during the past week…independence is calling for the chicks now. But they said thanks for the greetings 🙂

  3. The Hydrangea blossoms were lovely and I especially liked the ones with the raindrops in them. I think they add character to the shots, and I have no doubt that you will be getting plenty of hot weather soon enough now, and if your summer starts to go anything like ours, you’ll soon be wishing for a little rain. (I actually had to put out a little fire in the park where I was shooting pictures this morning. Apparently someone had used a camp-fire to stay warm, or cook some food last night, but didn’t do too good a job of extinguishing it this morning, and it flared up and was starting to spread when I came along. I actually had to call the fire department because I couldn’t get it to stay out.)

    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I’m happy you liked the ones with the raindrops in them, because I was hoping to really try and ‘show’ the raindrops 🙂 I agree, once the rainy season ends, I’ll be wishing for the grey skies to return anytime. (Ah, how fickle we humans can be!) So I try to enjoy each day and appreciate it regardless of the weather. Not always successful, admittedly 😉

Thank goodness you were in the little park to discover the fire! I don’t even want to think about what might have happened if you hadn’t been there at that moment. The park is very lucky indeed! Of course, I’m glad no one was injured.

    • I’m so happy you liked them! I’ve never grown them myself, but fortunately, it’s easy to find them in the neighborhood, even right here in the heart of the city 🙂 Thanks a lot for your comment!

  4. Seeing these exquisite hydrangeas at the end of a wearisome day brought light and joy right into the gloom that was threatening to settle. What a gift for me tonight. Thank you!

    • Dear Julia,
Thank you so much for your generous comment. I’m honoured if these photos could bring a smile to your face. I will admit, I sometimes (often times) feel very upset/distressed/saddened/angry at the terrible events occurring all over the world. It makes me wonder about humanity and how ‘civilised’ we truly are (or aren’t)…

But even during the darkest moments, nature finds a way to show a ray of light. I’m always grateful for it, and also try to share the moment with others. Thank you, for making my day with your thoughtful words.

      Best wishes,
      Takami

      • Dear Takami,
You describe the squeeze we find ourselves in so often perfectly: beauty and horror.
I first saw these exquisite photos on a day when I wrestled with the recent loss of life in Charleston, SC (USA). My soul was crushed. I spent some time simply gazing into the radiance of the perfection of each flower. (Hydrangeas are some of my favorites, anyway!) Taking time to do this had a profound impact on me.
Thank you for sharing your art, keeping on through the times when you feel the heaviness of life yourself.
        Have a wonderful weekend,
        Julia

        • I was thinking of the exact same tragedy, it had made headlines here too. Unfortunately, there is a rise in ethnic-targeted hatred here as well. Very disturbing. With all the technology that supposedly ‘connects’ us all, I feel we are in many ways becoming more & more disconnected from our (physical) neighbors. Perhaps, what we need, is to really learn communicate with each other. And naturally, it takes courage and effort. When I find myself feeling bitter and jaded, I remind myself to keep ‘hope’ and do what I can to make a difference. Again, thank you so much.

          • It’s so lamentable that there is definitely a rise in hatred targeting various ethnic groups, as you state. When you think about it, every person has an ethnicity and it is ludicrous to “target” anyone. But we know it happens––and with regularity. I can well imagine you slip toward becoming bitter and jaded. I know that feeling.
I KNOW you make a difference, Takami, but it’s important that we continually remind one another of that fact. As you say, ironically we live in an increasingly disconnected world, but into whatever connection we have, we can bring courage, hope and love. Which you do!
Thank you for your beautiful heart and gift.
            – Julia

  5. Good morning, dear Takami! What a beautiful post! I LOVE hydrangeas so much—they are one of my all time favourite blossoms. They are so showy and their variegated blue-mauve-pink colour is stunning—you captured their beauty so well. I especially love the shot of the exquisite detail at their centres. It’s always such a joy to see your hydrangeas because they are an annual flower here and do not grow into large showy shrubs. Wonderful series, my friend! We too are having a much needed rainy day and our flora is much appreciating the moisture. Wishing you a happy rainy season! :)))

    • Hello Jeannie! ❤
I just finished enjoying your Strawberry Moon post – the perfect way to start the weekend 🙂 I am honoured you enjoyed the Hydrangeas. I also think their rich colours are so deep and exquisite. I don't know why, but there's a 'regal' feeling about them – they immediately grab your attention! I almost want to bow and say 'your highness' 😀

I wish you and your partner a glorious weekend!!

  6. Oh wow this made my eyes happy and relaxed! I love this so much! I’ve never been able to grow these so I’m so happy to see them when others do! Love the vivid blue/purples. Divine my friend! ✿✿✿✿✿

  7. こんにちは。
    アジサイは雨の季節に合っていると思います。
    雨を受けて花の色が、ますますきれいになっています。
    これから一カ月梅雨の季節ですが、花の美しさに癒される時季でもありますね。

  8. Ah, such beautiful, beautiful color on this fine morning, Takami! I’m so glad you shared these wonderful photos — I can almost smell them through cyberspace, 🙂 And btw: love the new photo on your header — so adorable! Have a great day, Deb
