A beautiful bird. She does resemble the hummingbirds I see in US, but they have a bit longer tails. Your Queenfisher is particularly attractive. Are they all so pretty? Are they tiny birds like our hummers?
Thank you Susan. Yes, she is a beauty! This photo was taken late in the afternoon, when the light was golden. I thought this brought our her colours beautifully. In my opinions, all the Kingfishers I’ve seen are very beautiful, but she was exceptionally pretty 🙂 They average 13-15cm here, so slightly larger than Hummingbirds. Unfortunately, we don’t see hummingbirds naturally here. So, I admire them via blogs and documentaries 🙂 🙂
Best wishes,
Takami
These are so fast, you’re fortunate to have a shot of this bird, so sharp, they are not easy to shoot.
You’re absolutely right, so hard to catch them for a still moment! I waited 2 years for this moment, twice happy it was a female bird 🙂
Standout colours. Nice composition!
Thank you Ankur. I am delighted you enjoyed 🙂
Best wishes,
Takami
Great picture! bilere
Thank you Bilere 🙂

Stunning image, Takami! I tried birding pictures recently and seriously, it is not easy. Respect 🙂
Thank you, friend ❤
So beautiful, a tranquil moment captured a bird on a branch…
Thank you Marje. It was truly a tranquil and special moment 🙂
🙂
Great pic!
Thank you!
Welcome!
A wonderful head-turner indeed ~ such amazing colors can be found in nature, and when it can be captured like you have done here – perfect 🙂 Wishing you a great week ahead Takami.
Thank you Randall! Wish you a great week ahead too.
Such a great shot! 🙂
Thank you so much! Very happy you liked it 🙂
That is a lovely Head Turner you have captured, Takami! I have never seen a Kingfisher with such brilliant colors!
Thank you dear Helen! She is a beauty, and the late afternoon sunlight made her look even more glorious ❤ I hope you're doing well, in spite of your busy schedule.
Very beautiful capture. Thank You. Have a nice day!
Thank you, dear Sartenada 🙂 My best wishes to you!

A wonderful capture my friend. The colors came out beautifully. I take it this is the (Queen)Fisher if a person wanted to be accurate? Lol.
Hello my friend. Thanks so much for stopping by. I agree, the more accurate description would be a “Queenfisher” indeed 🙂 I hope you are having a pleasant weekend.
Wonderful photograph! What a cute bird.
Thank you Mr. Nico! Blessings to you and your family.
Excellent shot, Takami…:-) Loved the cute bird…
Thank you dear Maniparna 🙂 She is truly a lovely bird.
Beautiful shot. Great day for you
Thank you. I wish you a peaceful and good weekend.
🙂
It is very beautiful this bird.
Gorgeous Photo.
I wish you a nice day, dear Takami.
Thank you, my friend Herve.
Although there is harshness in Nature, there is also natural harmony and beauty. I wish it can be the same for human civilization… I hope for it.
Beautiful ! 🙂
Thanks a lot my dear Takami !
Thank you my friend! Yes, she is a beautiful bird 🙂
love it!!
Thank you dear friend ❤
Such a beautiful little jewel! I can imagine how difficult was to capture her. I have seen a male kingfisher in wild, but never a female. Double luck, great job!
Thank you dear Inese! It was a challenge indeed, and I waited almost 2 years for this opportunity. I did feel “double luck” when I saw it was a female 🙂 ❤ 😀 She is truly a beauty…
Oh you bet! It is simply amazing.
Lovely!
Thank you Kathy! She is a beauty ❤
Wow! What a fantastic photograph! I love my hummers!
Thank you Jill! She is gorgeous. I agree, kingfishers look a lot like hummers – at least to my eyes 😀
So it’s not a hummingbird? 🙂
Unfortunately, hummingbirds do not have their natural habitat in Japan, so I have yet to see one with my eyes. Kingfishers, while they do have a natural habitat here, are also challenging to spot, so it was a real treat! 🙂
Beautiful!
Takami, very nice shot with good colors and bokeh. I’ve seen this bird but have not yet been fast enough to take its picture.
Thank you Hien. I agree, kingfishers move so quickly (and are quite tiny) and they are difficult to photograph. I think this beautiful lady bird knew she was being admired, and decided to show off 😀 She had many admirers.
That bird has some personality! 🙂
Oh yes, she’s beautiful and she certainly knows it! 😀
Quite the head turner, indeed!
Thank you Rajiv-san! Yes, she had many admirers and I had a feeling she was aware of her mesmerising quality – how it affected all who were watching her 😀
I can believe that
Beautiful! I love this bird! Nice, nice! Thanks!
Thank you my friend ❤ She is a beautiful kingfisher 🙂
