  1. A beautiful bird. She does resemble the hummingbirds I see in US, but they have a bit longer tails. Your Queenfisher is particularly attractive. Are they all so pretty? Are they tiny birds like our hummers?

    • Thank you Susan. Yes, she is a beauty! This photo was taken late in the afternoon, when the light was golden. I thought this brought our her colours beautifully. In my opinions, all the Kingfishers I’ve seen are very beautiful, but she was exceptionally pretty 🙂 They average 13-15cm here, so slightly larger than Hummingbirds. Unfortunately, we don’t see hummingbirds naturally here. So, I admire them via blogs and documentaries 🙂 🙂

      Best wishes,
      Takami

  2. A wonderful head-turner indeed ~ such amazing colors can be found in nature, and when it can be captured like you have done here – perfect 🙂 Wishing you a great week ahead Takami.

      こんにちは^^コメントありがとうございます。メスのカワセミさんの「後ろ姿」は、どうしても「見返り美人」に見えてしまいます(笑)また会いに行きたいです。

    • Thank you Hien. I agree, kingfishers move so quickly (and are quite tiny) and they are difficult to photograph. I think this beautiful lady bird knew she was being admired, and decided to show off 😀 She had many admirers.
