So cute. What life you bring to your photography.
Thank you! Really appreciate your visit and comment. I’m glad you liked this young pair of our Japanese pheasants 🙂
はじめ一瞬みた時は新種の鳥かと思いました。よく見ると出会いの意味がわかりました。

こちらは「ご近所」の(若)キジたちです。野鳥たちが見せてくれるいろんなドラマ…一日中見ていても飽きないです。
Beautiful shot, dear Takami 🙂
Thank you dear Helen ❤
Pheasants are our national bird, but given very little exposure. These birds were in their "adolescent" phase, which made it extra special 🙂 The young male was hot-in-pursuit of the young lady…but, looks like she had other plans 😀 😛
Amazing shot❤️
Thank you dear friend ❤
My pleasure ❤️
Interesting!
Thank you! They are beautiful birds, still in the awkward, adolescent phase in their lives 🙂
Wonderful! The red head and her gorgeous plumage. How lovely to see these two dancing 🙂
Thank you! I’m happy you liked it.
They are a young (adolescent) male and female Japanese pheasant – our national bird 🙂 Pheasants are usually very shy and skittish, but I think these two “young ones” were too preoccupied with each other to notice me. It was great to spend a quiet moment observing them.
By the way, the red-headed fellow was the eager and enthusiastic young male. The female was the lovely brown-coloured young lady — going about her business 🙂 😀
At first look, I thought seeing a speeding air plane. 🙂 Thank You for this amazing photo.
I wish You a happy new week.
Thank you, Mr. Matti 🙂
I like very much your expression – they seem a speeding airplane 🙂
These are a young male & female of the Japanese pheasant (our national bird). They are usually very shy, but on this morning, they showed me a special dance 🙂
I wish for you and your family a happy week too!
So lovely, Takami. They remind me of a couple of Spanish dancers (red bandanna). Such graceful birds !
Thank you Inese ❤ Ah, yes Spanish dancers! I can see how they bring up that image. They are beautiful and graceful (and shy) birds 🙂
You know birds well, and your bird pictures are always telling a story ❤
I’m so happy if my photos can convey a story! It’s what I aim for 🙂 😀 And birds are so beautiful – even when they are simply doing their daily tasks 😀
Yes, exactly 🙂 They are doing their tasks beautifully 🙂
The two make a lovely couple on the dance floor, Takami!
“Lovely couple on the dance floor” – what a great image! I can imagine some intense flamenco dancing 🙂 Thank you for stopping by Tanja ❤
Such an intriguing image!
Thank you very much for stopping by!
This pair of pheasants (Japan’s national bird) are in their adolescent “awkward” phase as shown through their feathers. (Can you guess by their actions, which is the male and which is the female? 😀)
I love the way the birds are crossing in the image; at first I wasn’t sure what I was looking at!
Thank you Josh! Appreciate that you decided to give the image another look 🙂
This pair of pheasants (Japan’s national bird) were in their adolescent “awkward” change as shown through their feathers. (Can you guess which is the male and which is the female? 😀)
To me, it was reminiscent of a scene from a classic b&w film depicting a chance encounter amongst future soulmates…
The male is clearly the pheasant in the back, with the bright red face!
Haha who knows, maybe they’ll end up being mates in the future?
Yes, he was the fellow with the intense gaze in the back. The lady…well, she didn’t seem interested 😀 But I have hope they may end up together in the not so distant future.
It sounds like the beginning of every romantic comedy!
So surprising! Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you Sylvie ❤
It was a chance meeting of a young male and female pheasant (Japan's national bird). These 2 birds are in the adolescent “awkward” stage. Their feathers have not fully developed yet… But, I feel this made them charming and unique 😉
Yes a unique encounter. T is great that you were able to capture this moment. 😚
Hmm, what’s going on here??! 😉 Excellent shot!
It was a passing of adolescent female & male pheasants (Japan’s national bird). Can you guess which is the male and which is the female? 😀
The male is wearing the red rooster hat and the female is brown? 😊 I didn’t know it was your national bird!
Yes, and yes 😀
The green pheasant is native to Japan.
Sadly, it is still legal to hunt male pheasants during the hunting season, which makes them afraid of humans. Therefore, while quite large in size, they are often skittish and do not show themselves too much 😦
I hope they were at least hunted for food and not for fun. I’ve never seen a male one. We have pheasants here too, a different kind I suppose, but in the city they are of course rare.
Wonderful photo.
Thank you very much.
I hoped you would have a chance to view this image 🙂

This pair of pheasants (Japan’s national bird) were in their adolescent “awkward” change as shown through their feathers. Can you guess which is the male and which is the female? 😀
No, I cannot guess. But they are really beautiful and you composed the picture very well. Almost like a dance.
Appreciate your reply 🙂
The bird in the back is the male – although he hasn’t quite grown into his adult feathers yet. Despite being our national bird, I feel these beautiful, shy birds are often overlooked. Thank you again, for commenting.
You’re very welcome.
Ships crossing in the night! A special shot!
“Ships crossing in the night” — thank *you* for sharing this beautiful English expression. I learned something new ❤
It was a passing of adolescent female & male pheasants (Japan’s national bird). Can you guess which is the male and which is the female? 😀
”袖擦り合うも多生の縁”(Even a chance acquaintance is decreed by destiny):D
おっしゃる通りです!若キジの間でもドラマみたいな運命的な出会いってあるんですね! 😀
Amazing!
Thank you Mr. Nico!
I thought it was sweet – a chance meeting of a young male and female. These pheasants are in the adolescent “awkward” stage. Their feathers have not quite fully changed to adult plumage. But I thought this made them more charming 😉
Yes, for sure! Blessings to you and yours.
At first glance the small picture in the WP reader makes these two look like a jet plane, wings wide, a red vertical stabilizer, landing gear legs. But, then again, I am due an eye examine.
Nice shot, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Peter! Your comment brightened my morning!
It was a passing of adolescent female & male pheasants (Japan’s national bird). Can you guess which is the male and which is the female? 😀
Ah, Japan’s national bird. A beauty, I’ll retain that information, thank you. As to your question: I’d guess the red-headed pheasant the male.
Yes, your guess is correct 🙂
I thought his expression (and the apparent ‘indifference’ of the lady) was adorable…
Although the pheasant is our national bird, there isn’t much publicity for it. So I hope to contribute a little in my own way.
Ha! Yes the lady’s indifference, funny. 🙂
Beautifully captured! It’s even better when viewed in its larger version.
Thank you! Twice happy to know you viewed it in the larger version. It was a lovely moment to see the two young pheasants (one female, one male) passing each other. Can you imagine which is the male? 🙂
The male is the one in the back, right?
Yes! I thought his expression (and the apparent ‘indifference’ of the lady) was adorable… 😀
Those eyes, on both birds, are so telling. 🙂
😀
Strangers passing…but maybe one recognizes the other. 😉
Yes indeed 🙂 It was a passing of adolescent female & male pheasants (Japan’s national bird). Can you guess which is the male and which is the female? 😀
The one with the red is male. 🙂
Yes! 😀
You really have a special eye ;o)
Thank you! I had hoped that this image would encourage viewers to “look again” 🙂 It was a sweet and cute interaction between two young male & female pheasants (Japan’s national bird).
