Hello ❤ ❤
So happy to see you again. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed a shot of this very handsome Daurian redstart. He was doing his best to attract the ladies, but didn't seem to mind posing for us for a few moments.
Takami,
It’s a special experience when nature’s creatures share those special moments with us. I am always honored when it happens. 🙂
best,
Hui
Hui,

Thank you so much, Takami! I’m grateful for your beautiful comment! I really love your photos. You do an amazing job capturing the beauty of nature. Have a beautiful day!
Nice sharp shot of Mr. Handsome 🙂
Looks really serious, this guy is 🙂
Hello Sreejith, Happy New Year 🙂
Thank you for your comment. Yes, he seemed very serious and focused to attract a mate 🙂 😀
Ah so handsome! I recognised the bird since we have two species of Redstarts here in Ireland. I have many photographs of them but never posted on this blog yet. Glad our Redstarts have such a handsome cousin 🙂
Thank you Inese! I can imagine the Redstarts in Ireland are quite stunning!
As you can imagine, the males (like the fellow pictured here) are quite dramatic in colours. The females are more muted, but very charming (and quite popular with the male photographers!). I hope to get some glimpses of the lady during the winter 🙂
Oh it would be wonderful 🙂
He really is handsome!
Thank you so much! I’m happy you like this dashing fellow 🙂
Hello Mr Handsome … perfect 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 😀
Incredible orange colors on that bird! I’m sure the ladies have noticed 😀
Oh yes, the ladies (and both male/female human photographers too) did take note, I believe 😀
For such a small bird, he had charisma 100 times his size!
Daurian redstarts (aka “joubitaki” in Japanese) are seasonal birds here, only around from Winter – early Spring, so all Japanese bird-lovers rejoice to see him around 😀 (The females are different colours, but still very very charming. I hope to make some photos this winter!)
I love colorful birds in the winter! I’m not sure if you get much snow in your part of Japan, but basically any color looks brilliant against a snow-white background – even grey.
Where I live, we traditionally don’t have too much snowfall (however, we had a big storm early this year!). I agree – snow-white backgrounds make any color of bird look beautiful. Even people, LOL 😀
Lol! Yes, even people look better in the snow! Too bad our bodies don’t handle the cold well, because I truly love winter.
本当だ!!美男子ですね!:D
Nasukoさま ❤
こんにちは!いつもありがとうございます!!
こちらのジョウビ君、ほんっとにハンサムですね ❤
必死に縄張り宣言・メスにアピールする姿に一目惚れしました(笑)
Oh wow!!! Par excellent capture, Takami!!! What bird is this? I cannot read Japanese so that being said, I’m asking. LOL LOVE this!! Your talent amazes me how you can capture these birds! ☺️
Hello dear Amy!
As always, thank you for your kind comments ❤
This handsome fellow is a male Daurian Redstart ("joubitaki" in Japanese). They are seasonal birds here, only around from Winter – early Spring, so all Japanese bird-lovers rejoice to see them 😀 (The females are different colours, but still charming. I hope to make some photos this winter!)
Huh. That is why I didn’t recognize this guy. We don’t have those birds here. He is just lovely! Thank you for explaining what bird he is.
I have been trying to capture on of those unsuccessfully 😊
Hello Sylvie ❤
Thank you for your comment. Yes, these small birds are challenging to capture with the camera.
In Japan, these birds (Daurian redstart) are only here during winter months. I hope to see him again during the winter. I hope to see the "lady" bird too 🙂 (this photo is the male…)
There are similar ones in this part of the world (or they seem to be). Looking forward to seeing the lady 😊
Hello my dear, you are so beautiful !!! 😉
😘🤗
Thank you my friend ❤
He is a handsome bird. Next time, I hope to make photos of the female bird 🙂
I wish , all the best Takami !!! 🙂
He really is a handsome fellow!
Thank you! All Japanese bird-lovers rejoice to see the Daurian redstarts during winter – early Spring months 🙂 I hope to get some photos of the female Daurian redstarts too. (Keeping fingers crossed)
A handsome fellow, indeed. I assume it’s a male. Do you happen to know what species it is, Takami?
Thank you Tanja! Yes, you’re correct, he is a male Daurian Redstart (“joubitaki”) in Japanese. Daurian redstarts are seasonal birds here, only around from Winter – early Spring, so all Japanese bird-lovers rejoice to see him around 😀 (The females are different colours, but still charming. I hope to make some photos this winter!)
Amazing bird and photo!

Handsome indeed. Glorious !
Isn’t he a real dandy? 😀 He was very popular with the human photographers as well 🙂
Right, i just notice the silver wig he is wearing like an 18th century french aristocrat ;o)
