  1. Your national bird is a beauty, Takami ❤ I see they are very inquisitive and brave too. I have noticed that pheasants are not afraid of the cars, but when you get out they panic and run away.
Beautiful composition and an untold story behind it.

    • That’s an interesting point! Now that I recall, they do seem less skittish when humans are inside the cars.

I also love how naturally curious they are when the feel “comfortable” in their environment. The male pheasants are quite striking but I also love the subtle beauty of the females 🙂

As always thanks much for your comment ❤

    • Hello Tanja,
Yes, it is as you say. They are usually so shy and skittish. And who can blame them, when they have been targeted as “hunting game” for so many years?

We are fortunate to have a few green pheasant pairs who live in our neighborhood. We have a marsh/reed field and river nearby, which helps too, I think!

During the Spring/summer months, the male pheasants here become unusually bold, making claim to their territory. Sometimes they come near the road, as you see here. But fortunately, this fellow left quite quickly! 😀

        • While there are indeed some Kingfishers who live near the river, they usually fly past en route to their main destination. Therefore, the kingfishers on my blog are those I have had the good luck of “meeting” on trips to nature sanctuaries and reserves 🙂

  2. あの写真はきれいだと思う。あなたは自然を撮影するのが好きです。これは何の鳥ですか?

      Hello Quarc-san,
      Thank you for your comment.
I am happy you like this photo. This bird is the “green pheasant.” It is Japan’s national bird:

  3. Beautiful pheasant, Takami, they have such lovely colors. Good gracious, what’s he doing hanging around the road?!! 😲 I hope he made a quick escape and ran/flew out of there and back to safer grounds! 🙂
