    • Hello Matti,
I’m very happy you enjoyed the first photo especially! As you see, it is a barn sparrow, the most “common” bird here. However they have refined beauty, and very adaptive to different environments. Therefore I admire their toughness 🙂 Thank you very much for your comment.

  1. Cute winter pictures ❤ I think it is a tree sparrow in the first image. His cap is brown. We have them too, but they are not that common. I love the pictures of birds in the reeds. It is not easy to take such picture. Beautiful. Have a happy and healthy 2021, Takami!

    • Thank you dear Inese! Yes, it is a tree sparrow in the first image. They are the most “common” birds here. I feel they are so beautiful, and such details in their browns. This little fellow was trying to keep his balance in the reeds on a windy day 🙂

  2. Another great series of photos, Takami 🙂 The first shot is a perfect reminder of the passing of the Winter Solstice and the hope of springtime ahead, simply fantastic. And for me the Kingfisher is such a majestic bird so it is a perfect feeling to end ’20 with and prepare us for ’21. Wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year of health and happiness. Take care ~

  3. Such beautiful and gentle images Takami – and these days, winter or not, we all need all the respite we can get. Wishing you and yours a peaceful New Year and may the year ahead bring better times to us all.

    • Hello Carol,
Thank you so much for warm holiday wishes. I’m glad if our local birds could provide a bit of “respite” from the turbulence of our daily lives. I loved following your blog this year and look forward to continuing to so in the years to come! Wishing you and all your dear ones a safe and blessed new year.

      • Thank you so much Takami – and I look forward to your lovely and gentle images of birds. I especially like the way you allow them to be contextualized by their environment in your photographs.
Let’s look forward to further inspirational times in nature and I also send best wishes to you and yours for the New Year – keep safe and let’s hope reasons for optimism increase as the year progresses.

Have a wonderful Christmas and joyous days ahead with warm laughter. Take care.

    • Thank you Mr. Hien! I do hope our local birds brought a smile to your face. And I appreciate your keen observation as always. May you and all your dear ones have a safe, healthy and happy new year. Thank you for your warm support throughout the years.

  5. The tree sparrow is the less common of the two species of sparrow that can be found in Britain; they’re quite difficult to find, although there’s one place locally where we can usually see them. Kingfishers are also quite localised, and are a real treat when seen.
