    • Hello Rudi,
Thank you for your kind message, and for following my work. I am very happy to meet you, and it’s my pleasure to follow your beautiful photographs.
      Best wishes from Japan,
      Takami

  1. Hi Takami
At last I’m back in the UK and have found your blog. Wonderful 👍 I like all birds (and animals too), and will enjoy following your blog to see your photos of them! 😊

I think your Japanese kingfishers and little grebes are the same species as ours here in the UK. I love kingfishers too, but they’re not common so we don’t them often. Little grebes are a bit more common around here and, I think, under-rated as they are very handsome birds. Incidentally, we also call them dabchicks, “dab” being derived from an older word meaning “diving”.

With best wishes from the Platypus Man

    • Hello Mr. Platypus Man,
I am so happy to receive your comment! Thank you for choosing to follow my humble blog.

I enjoyed learning the new word “dabchick.” I feel it is a charming name for these charming birds. (And as you say, it is a pity they are under-rated!) I can imagine there are so many beautiful birds – including Kingfishers – in the UK. The UK is famous amongst Japanese bird-lovers as the birthplace of Birdwatching 🙂

I too, sincerely enjoy reading and learning so much from your blog. I will continue to enjoy “following” your writing, photography and wisdom. My husband and I give our best wishes to you and Mrs. Platypus Man 🙂

      • Hi Takami
It will also be a pleasure for me to learn from you. Thank you for saying such kind things about my blogs. I’m glad you like my writing – I enjoy the process of writing for its own sake, but it is very encouraging when I discover that another person likes what I write. Mrs P must take credit for the photography, and as for “wisdom” I’m truly flattered 😊. Best wishes to you and your husband.

    • Thank you for your comment and follow 🙂 I’m also very happy to discover your blog and look forward to viewing more of your work. I’m glad you like Kingfishers too 😀

      Best wishes,
      Takami

    • Hello Dennis,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for the ‘follow’ 🙂 Yes, I just saw your comment on OM’s site. WordPress is giving me some issues with my ‘like’ button, so I’ll stop by your great photography site a little later, to look more carefully at your work 🙂
      Best wishes,

  5. Congratulations on your nomination Takami, it is very much deserved. Your photographs have served well as part of the inspiration for my own photography. Like you, I’m only an amateur with the desire to get even better. Between my writing and my photography, I’m finally enjoying a world where I can express the beauty I have always seen, but have never been able to tell anyone about. 🙂

    • Thank you David 🙂 I was very surprised by Sally’s nomination. Unfortunately, I don’t participate in the award process, but the thought is truly appreciated 🙂

The best ‘awards’ for me is to receive nice comments like yours, and if folks genuinely like my photos. I’m honored if some of my work has inspired you, as you’ve done the same for me. Looking forward to another great year with you.

It’s finally sunny in Tokyo 😀

    • Hello Sally,
Thank you so much for your kind consideration & nomination. I am delighted to know you found my work to be a source of inspiration 🙂 Unfortunately, I don’t participate in the award process, but I truly appreciate it. I also appreciate how you even re-blogged some of my posts last year, and left comments on some of my photos. Thanks again, and I look forward to another great year with you!
      Best wishes,
      Takami
